They freakin' me out today. . . .

We have 16 newhires coming in at work tomorrow. I sent all of them letters telling them to report to work on September 10, 2007 @ 6:30.

Well, Dianna was over today and said one of the kids had a doctor's appointment on the 9th. I said October? Dianna said, "No, this month - tomorrow I think." I said today is the 9th. Dianna said, No, it's the 8th. Mark chimed in and said his watch said it was the 8th. I WAS IN A PANIC.

I freaked out thinking that I just told 16 people to report to work on Tuesday? The implications of that would be huge. It means all personnel electronic files would have to be updated. New Employee orientation is scheduled for Monday, telling my boss I flubbed up 16 times - Just Huge !!

Well, as it turns out - Dianna was confused and Mark's watch was wrong. THANK GOD. Today is the 9th and 16 people will show up for work tomorrow - on the 10th

When you get old, you get confused anyway. . . but for those of you out there - please don't mess with the minds of those of us who are aging (even if it's unintentional) It's freaky. I'm still kind of shaking over it, and I keep checking the calendar. . .to make sure it really is the 9th. LoL

Ahhh Vacation/Houseboat/Family/Friends - BAM

BAM - your dead, as is another co-worker. This has been the second one in the last few months and it is very difficult. On a houseboat with family/friends, others carrying stuff out of the boat come back and someone is dead. Vacation ends. Life stands still. They are at work one day and they are gone the next. I still miss "R" who was the first victim - work just doesn't seem the same without him. There are many people my age at work, and most of them say today "we just gotta retire - life is too short."

It's kind of funny that many people asked how old he was. As I was wondering that myself, I thought that the passing of a friend, co-worker or family member makes us take a hard look at our own mortality. Face it folks, fat, skinny, health nut, exerciser, couch potato, smoker. . . it's going to hit each and every one of us somewhere, sometime. Inevitable.

We have another employee who is suffering from ALS disease. He is v/young, with small children. I think, do I want to suffer with a disease, or do I want to go quickly into the night on a houseboat surrounded by those I love most. I'll take the later.

Part of my job is to deal with the families of those employees that pass, and it is a very difficult thing to do. I go over surviving benefits and assist in whatever way I can. The sadness in their voices is very haunting, because you want to make it go away for them - but you can't. From experience I know that time does make it better, but it never goes away completely.

Today, I spoke with the daughter of the employee who died and expressed my condolences. The gentleman's wife was too distraught to talk. As I was talking to his daughter, she said through her tears "wasn't he so cool." He was. I'll miss you "B".

Dear Me. . . .

Well, I had stupid migraines all weekend, didn't feel good - now my darned throat hurts. I find out today that Dianna has strep. Hope that is not what this is. . . Bummer !!!!

I went to the drug store and bought three bottles of Tylenol Liquid (extra strength). I am a sissy and cannot swallow pills. I'm going to do a fever ritual and recite incantations around this Tyleonl that I don't even have to crak it open. Like the Boy Scouts say - "be prepared".

I am taking one of the bottles to work as insurance !!!!

work? what can I say - I am really, really busy and I just can't keep up it seems.

I haven't been in my pool in two days - just haven't felt good, and there is no one to play with. The twinnies could care less about swimming. Teenagers!

Markie is making dinner and it smells good. Gotta go! Later.

Toontown/Swim/Laundry/Big Brother

Let's see, today I can:

Toontown

Swim

Do Laundry

Watch Big Brother Live Feeds

Now don't y'all get so jealous that my life is full and jam-packed, because it's not. Actually its quite boring.

Mark and I were talking on the back porch, and I told him about when I was younger and I would spend my evenings listening to my 10-band radio, which intercepted police calls. That was neat. I told Mark I didn't have a computer back then, and quite frankly, I don't know how I would survive without one today. My computer is my touch with the world really. Sad, isn't it? Life just seems to busy for many of us these days.

Been having the migraine's this weekend. Figured it out what was causing them. It's the white tea with Raspberries. I cannot do grapes, raisins, raspberries or blueberries. I found out these fruits contain Tannins, which are big migraine triggers. For me, migraines aren't very painful, it's just eye auras, dizzy and sensitivity to light and sound. Enough said.

Mark and I watched Music & Lyrics last night, and, of course, I fell asleep.

The picture? Well - that's me fighting those darn cogs.

hello Fellow bloggers

It has been awhile since I have posted. I have terrible osteoarthritis in my little finger and it really hurts to type.

Doctor said it was years and years of hitting the kyboard.

I'm gong to try and finish the family blog on my momma, but to be honest my creative juices just quit flowing. So much to write, so little time - and a bum finger.

Just wanted to say hello and let all know I'm still here !!!!

Steve

Been awhile since I've posted, but had to share the Steve story.

We are in a subdivision which has two lakes about 1/2 mile in either direction from our house. We live on a court.

I got home from work today and there was a fairly large goose sitting in our yard. I tought it kind of weird, but just thought the goose was just resting.

When Mark got home about an hour later, the goose was still there. The goose was drinking hot disgusting water out of the gutter, so Mark got him a fresh cup of water and the goose drank and drank.

The kids next door get home, and they notice the goose has something hanging out of his mouth. It was fishing line. On closer inspection the goose had a big knot in his throat, probably tangled fishing line.

I called, the Humane Society, County Animal Rescue and Fish and Wildlife service - none of them would help, and to be quite frank weren't really interested.

I called the vets that we used to take our dogs to. They said they would surely take him, but we had to get him there. It seems they have an animal rehabilitation farm, and send animals there to get better, then the animals are released back to the wild.

Mark, the three kids next door, their father, Joshua and Michael rounded up the lame goose and took it to the best veternarians in the world - Fuchs - Shively animal hospital.
The three kids next door had a cat carrier that they put together. The kids also gather sheets and the guy next door tacked the goose and we loaded it up in Mark's truck.

Mark dropped the goose off to Fuchs and I will call and check on him tomorrow.

The kids - they named the goose - Steve. I will call and check on Steve tomorrow - Maybe we can visit him.

All gods creaters - Great and Small.
